When I got home today he was moving into the apartment on the second floor. He said the move would be completed by the end of the weekend. *So much for the landlord promise to tell me when the new neighbor might arrive!!*
I’m still a little upset about the way this has been handled, and I guess he’s got a key to my basement as well. I told him what I was told when I moved in here for almost three years ago: all of the house, except the second floor apartment, and the garden was at my disposal. I hope that is not going to change! He said that the man showing him around didn’t know if there was any room for some of his things in the basement or if he was allowed to place some stuff on the attick. *But they still went down in the basement without asking me if I knew or if I minded!* I think that is kind of rude!
By law I’m bound to live here because this is the house for the pastor and I am not allowed to live anywhere else. In rare cases and on special grounds there can be given disposal from this “housing-law”, but I don’t think my case is so special….
Now I have rambled enough of this!

Snakkes fredag
I’d have been upset, too! I hope this new neighbor is respectful of your space and your belongings!
I totally don’t understand this housing law…. ????
Valerie
(…that you don’t understand I mean…)
I understand!
And maybe I rather call it a rule than law, but I have to live in this house as long as I’m pastor here (or in another house if they decide to move me…. locally that is).In almost every place there is a house or there will be found a house to the pastor, and the rule is that the pastor (and family) must live in this house while he or she is pastor in that place.
Some place this is a good rule (for instance in places where there is small changes to get an apartment or house for a decent price or where it is unlikely that you can sell the house when your moving….) For me who am going home to take over my father’s farm one of this days (some years from now I hope)it is a good thing that I can live in this house, pay a rent that is not to high and not worry about selling it when I’m moving. It is a way to get pastors to work in the rural area as well
Deb!
Good that I’m not the only one! I hope it will work out good too. It’s not his fault at all that I’m upset - so I’ll try to be a good neighbour and hope he will too
