My day has been full off different things today, it has not been to busy though!
First I was up kind of early (for being Saturday and for being, well, me ;)). I had some preparing to do for the wedding at 1 pm (write sermon among other things) and I had to post some magazines for the single adoptive association, where I’m sitting in the board of.
The wedding went well; I was so nervous - I always am. I’m not very comfortable with the role in weddings, but today I felt I did a good job - and even met a couple I married last year (or the year before that) who seemed glad to see me. (I also had a good time marrying them back then, by the way.) I like it when the couple cares about what happens in church, not only that it is a romantic setting. I felt they cared today too. And I wish them all that good is and Gods blessing on their way together!
The day hasn’t been so bright and shiny as we wanted, mostly grey with a hint of rain and some golden rays of sun in between, so not too bad either.
After the wedding I spent an hour preparing for tomorrow. The last confirmation of the season, two teenagers in the red church! I had to copy some psalms and make a praying card and a congratulations card to them. This year I’ve used photo paper (the cheapest kind) and put a photo of them, their name and then the prayer. It looks good, and I think they think so too, because they do not fold it(!) Earlier the card has been difficult to read because of them folding it several times and putting it in their pocket…..
Anyhow; I went home and got me some food and watched a little telly. Then I went out to see a amateur theatre, I know three of the players and it was: great fun, some provoking and much to think about!
The play was about something that people around here calls “Splint”, back home I’ve heard about it as “Fant”; I guess the English word for it is tramp or maybe hobo. In the play we met a tramp-family. They made a living by selling stuff and fixing different things on the farms. The “splints” moved around a lot and used boats to get from one place to another. The farmers and other people in the small towns was often hard on them. The tramps was told to be a stealing and lying people. Many was afraid of them and didn’t dare to give them anything, or in some cases gave them some food because they dared not to do it. Mostly they had a hard time and wasn’t threated like normal people.; more like lowlife. Because of this their behavior was both violent and load, and they had a language with a lot of bad words and swearing.
The amateurs played really well and I had a good time watching it. But it got me thinking about how we threat people around us, it might not be any tramps around anymore - but do we think that some people are less human than us?? I so hope not!
This was my tale of the day ![]()
Now I will put up some photos in my photoblog, and then call it night. I have to rise bright and early tomorrow morning…..
