I’m off to service in a few minutes; today the sermon is about how to stop poverty from growing…. I have decided to use not only my words today, the main part of the sermon will be a silent discussion where the congregation walks around in the church and put their meaning down on some sheets of paper I have laid out (with questions). I never know if this will work, it depends on so many things; but I’ll try, to me this is important questions to ask to us living in one of the worlds richest country. What to we do with our money; how can we help?

The text is about Lazarus and the rich man; about having hell in life but be welcome to heaven thereafter. Or the other way around. Life is never so black and white as this story, but what do we do about our brothers and sisters laying at our door??

Jesus said, “There was a certain rich man who was splendidly clothed and who lived each day in luxury. At his door lay a diseased beggar named Lazarus. As Lazarus lay there longing for scraps from the rich man’s table, the dogs would come and lick his open sores. Finally, the beggar died and was carried by the angels to be with Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and his soul went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Lazarus in the far distance with Abraham.

“The rich man shouted, ‘Father Abraham, have some pity! Send Lazarus over here to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in anguish in these flames.’

(our whole reading is from Luke 1:19-31)

*Do we only think about our selves and what we need*
- *or is there room for others???*

God bless!
