For about one and a half month now I haven’t been working my usual job. I’ve had plenty to do with my new son, thought.
Most of the time I don’t think about church work, I guess you can see that from my posts, but on Sundays I can’t help but think “What would I be doing right now” or “how would I present that text” and so on, and so on.
It is strange, but nice, not to be busy Sundays with services and thoughts about sermons and stuff. But I miss it too, working with the text trying to reach out to the congregations with it and wishing them all peace and Gods blessing…
This Sunday I hadn’t even read the text before I listen to the service through radio (no service here and my car’s not working!). This is what caught my eye when I did:
One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the Kingdom of God come?” Jesus replied, “The Kingdom of God isn’t ushered in with visible signs. You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is among you.” Luke 17:20-21
For me it’s a good thing to think about and to remember: “the Kingdom of God is among you”. God is not far away, not unable to reach - he’s here, close at hand, among us. In the middle of all that is good in this world, in the middle of all that is terrible in this world, Gods Kingdom is. In our church we this day especially remember all those persecuted for their faith in Christ. I know many of them long for the day when the Kingdom of God is the only thing there is. But still, I hope that they too can find courage in the words from Jesus: “the Kingdom of God is among you”.
If you pray, pray for those persecuted for their faith, tonight.
Good Sunday and may God bless you!
