Dinner with friends we see less of than we like.

It was so great to catch up and the spend the afternoon together. MT had fun playing with the girls and I had fun talking with my friend and her husband. Sadly they live too far away to just pop in for coffee, but at least it’s only one hour fifteen drive between us. My friend is also pastor so we share the same joys and hardship coming with this kind of work. It’s great to have someone to talk too that understands without a lengthy explanation and someone to share ideas with as well. Adding that we love to spend time together over a cup of coffee (or tea) - or two… it’s no wonder why I miss her and the whole family when they’re not around.

We had elk roast for dinner, and they really loved it. I have gotten to much of this in my youth so I’d rather make some curry ;) But it’s easy and good. And when I let it simmer in milk and coconut milk for an hour or two, it tastes less dry than the one I grew up eating. Off course around here, elk roast is a rarity. In fact elk is a rarity; I grew up in another place in Norway where the elk lives. And since we own land we also get meat each fall in the elk hunt. So around here elk is a easy way to please others, hehe, and I don’t mind making it for them. I even eat it with a smile on my face that’s not fake - honest! With spiced gravy it’s not half bad :D Eating together gives the food a special taste anyhow - that I learned in my single life, for sure!

The weather hasn’t been too bad either. So the kids went out playing for a little while too. It’s so great that they have just as much fun as the adult when meeting!!
