a good mess

Yesterday I got some great news, and a fun new adventure into scrapbook land. This is such and opportunity for me to grow as an digital scrapbooker and I look forward to be a part of it. Yay, right now I really LOVE making pages after pages of colorful goodness telling our story. It’s my favorite thing to do to relax and rewind after a busy day at work.

bunch of prints

And after printing over 100 of my pages through Persnickety Prints (they do FANTASTIC prints! If ever in need of some, use them :) ) I LOVE to hold the real pages in my hand, watch them and share them with people around me too. So much better than the layouts I printed out on my own printer (even though they were nice too, in a way, but nothing like the real thing..). Kiddo likes to watch also, but only a little bit. But he understands the concept of taking photos and wanting to do something creative with them, so he’s good. One of these days I’ll teach him how to use Photoshop Elements too, my guess is he will love to edit his own photos ;)   (but then I think I might need to learn how to edit video as well, since he loves to take crazy videos with his camera, and I’m not sure if I’m ready for that just yet…) LOL. I’m just blabbering here.

Anyway, wanted to show you my latest scrapbook page. I made it for the Scrapzilla contest week 3 (links for the others: week 2 and week 1). This week was all about colors and I had a blast with these old photos of MT. He was so cute as a 3 year old :D

colorful living
photos from 25.04.2006, words from 17.09.2010:
I love these photos of you, taken one early morning in your Grandma’s kitchen when you were 3 years old. You had so much fun splashing paint and colors all around. And you made such a mess. A good mess. I know you love colors just as much as I do. Today I asked you what your favorite color is and you quickly answered BLUE. But then you added that you really liked YELLOW as well, and I know that yellow (or sometimes more orange) have been a color you’ve loved for a long time. Now as I watch you grow I’m thinking of all the color that will be your life. All the colors that will be you. For I know there will be a lot of it and I wish for you a life filled with colors of all kids. A colorful life where you can be yourself and be proud of who you are, just as I am of you now. So, go on, make your life a colorful living. I’ll be right beside you cheering you on and loving to live colorfully too.

It’s a beautiful fall Sunday in our parts of the world. I’m in the process of getting ready for a service in the church right next to our house. I’ve been looking forward to this service for quite some time. It’s kind of different. It’s for kids, but also for adults. I’m eager to see if people will come, especially too see if there are children coming. I think there will be.

We’re kicking of a new series of services for Gods children of all ages where we try to speak to and learn with our whole body and mind. Today we are going to play a game and have fun together while we learn new (and old) stuff about our faith. We call the services Sprell Levande Gudsteneste. I don’t know how to translate this into English in an easy way without loosing the meaning. But it is a service (gudsteneste) where we celebrate us being living (levande) creatures playing (sprell) in front of  our living loving God. LOL. Let me know if you find a smashing translation of it ;) We are using this in our Sunday school as well, today the service will (kind of) be a Sunday school class for everybody…. I look forward to it and I hope others do too. Noting like using our whole body and soul to experience God. :)

This is our text of the day (Mark 10:13-16):

People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

Church is SO NOT only for the adults or for those understanding it all!

Happy Sunday and Blessed Be <3

I haven’t been able to find room for much scrapping the last couple of days, but I’m still searching for new things to learn – or mostly old things to re-learn and rediscover. It’s been a fun journey and I love the pages I’ve done so far. Here are my page for September 2nd. (go here for September 1st and here for the title and cover page).

So far I’ve used photos from earlier months/years, it’s been fun looking back a little for inspiration :)

Today I spent several hours in the car driving. So glad to re-listen to a few podcast episodes of one of my favorite scrapping show: The Roundtable! credits: template by Shimelle (from class; modified) | papers and elements from Be Frivolous by Kasia designs | alpha from denise beatty originals.

………………………………………………..
I’ve been writing a few notes for each day, and here are my learnings so far (September 1st through 10th) in a few simple sentences:

  1. I can start the mower and mow the grass all by my self.
  2. Listening to the Roundtable while driving long distances makes the drive seems shorter and the driver happier.
  3. What a beauty September can be
  4. How nice it is to walk/bike by the river with kiddo
  5. That not everything goes as planned.
  6. My body tells me when it’s time for a break
  7. You are hungry when dry bread tastes like a delicious sandwich
  8. I really love to work with youths and teens.
  9. It’s not the numbers that counts.
  10. To be honest, screaming at the computer doesn’t make it work faster.

helping mama mowing...

So we had too much rain in August and my grass had, by the end of the month, grown out of proportions. Earlier this summer my dad had come to my rescue, insisting on mowing himself. He told me he didn’t think I was strong enough to get the machine started. And he needed to take the mower with him and use it on the farm anyway; so since he already was there, he could as well mow the lawn for me (as he put it himself). But then one day in the middle of August the machine was too full of wet grass, after a rather unsuccessful mowing session, he didn’t want the machine in his car and placed it in my garage to collect later. Later never came. And one sunny day I decided I had to fight the machine. The weeds needed to go. So I tried. And I won. So now my lawn is mowed (at least the main part). Yay.

This day I learned that:

Couldn’t help but joining Shimelle and her class this September. Not sure when the album will be finished, but I’m writing a little something every day and trying to remember to bring my camera with me. This is going to be fun!

/edited to add my title page as well.

Now I’ll better find my bed, it’s been a long day! Rather eventful too, to be honest.
