It’s raining outside. It’s still colder than I want it, but I can lit the fireplace if I want….
fish cup-cake
I’m sleepy, but not as tired anymore. (The church bulletin are at the printers and out of my hand :D ).

I do have a craving for a few cupcakes. Can anyone please bake me some?! Or, at least give me a killer recipe!

Please!

My favorite herb ;) Now it’s resting in my windowsill while I’m waiting for it to shot some new leafs… (or what to call it!) Hurry up, will you :D

Hehe, all the things you got to do while being a pastor… :dizzy:

Next week, from Wednesday to Sunday our Bisoph is going to visitate our congregations. We’ve already done a lot of preparing and now only have the details left (okei, the details take some work too, though…). Today I’m taking a vacation day and now my stew is boiling behind me. I’m going to serve the Bishop elk-stew and so far it smells delicious. Two days ago I cut the meat into dices, then I put them in a bowle with some marinade of wine, onion, garlic and spices. Earlier today I took the meat out of the marinade and dried each piece a bit (took forever!) and the burned it brown in some butter/oil - and now it’s boiling good behind me with some added spices, chili (but of course, you are in my house now) and some water. I’m going to let it boile at least one hour and then it’s going into the freezer after it’s cooled down. When I heat it up again I’m going to add a bit of youghurt (with taste of berries from the forest) and some cream - don’t you want to visit me too??!! :o

Yesterday I discovered that I can’t find the cable I need to upload the photos from my camera and to my computer. So no new photos here for some days. Hopefully my father can find it at the farm (were I used it last) - or I put it into our suitcase without thinking. Mum and Dad are coming to help and visit on Friday so I left the suitcase with them when we traveled back here last Sunday (easier on the train). I just have to wait - even though the fall has started to show some colors and I have some really cute photos of MT that I wanted to show… Blah!

Thinking of Blah!! Yesterday I also looked for the cheapest way to travel to North-Norway. And even though I could find prices that wasn’t bad - I still had to pay about the same as a if we should fly to New York (!!) And the rental car cost only a little under 1000 kroner (or about 155 US$ or something like that), no way I can afford that for two weeks so now I’m looking for other options. Good thing I have the time on my side for a change!!

Just tasted the stew - this is promissing; finally I can impress some important people. LOL

This has been a good day!!!
Dinner with friends we see less of than we like.

It was so great to catch up and the spend the afternoon together. MT had fun playing with the girls and I had fun talking with my friend and her husband. Sadly they live too far away to just pop in for coffee, but at least it’s only one hour fifteen drive between us. My friend is also pastor so we share the same joys and hardship coming with this kind of work. It’s great to have someone to talk too that understands without a lengthy explanation and someone to share ideas with as well. Adding that we love to spend time together over a cup of coffee (or tea) - or two… it’s no wonder why I miss her and the whole family when they’re not around.

We had elk roast for dinner, and they really loved it. I have gotten to much of this in my youth so I’d rather make some curry ;) But it’s easy and good. And when I let it simmer in milk and coconut milk for an hour or two, it tastes less dry than the one I grew up eating. Off course around here, elk roast is a rarity. In fact elk is a rarity; I grew up in another place in Norway where the elk lives. And since we own land we also get meat each fall in the elk hunt. So around here elk is a easy way to please others, hehe, and I don’t mind making it for them. I even eat it with a smile on my face that’s not fake - honest! With spiced gravy it’s not half bad :D Eating together gives the food a special taste anyhow - that I learned in my single life, for sure!

The weather hasn’t been too bad either. So the kids went out playing for a little while too. It’s so great that they have just as much fun as the adult when meeting!!

Have a wonderful evening!!
Now I want to read up on some of your writings dear fellow bloggers :D

slices bread

Finally, my bread turned good !!

I’ve been trying a while, but finally I think I’m on the right path! Yesterday it just turned out uneatable, so I needed this today or else I would have given up I think. But I like the idea of home made bread and that I know just what’s in them. Later on I’ll try to use a bit more coarse flour to make it even more healthy. But I have used carrots and oats this time (if you look closely at the photos you’ll see some orange dots in between all the white stuff… Taste so good!).
bread

Today has been a slow day. Yesterday I mowed the lawn and took care of the laundry. MT played with E our neighbor at 4. They have fun together most of the time, but sometimes they forget there is a bit of age difference between them. I think E enjoys being able to tell MT what to do and to be the strongest and fastest and the one that can climb highest and jump from high places (he has two older brothers). MT enjoys having E too look up to and to learn new things from. He loves a challenge and wouldn’t mind trying out everything E’s doing. But then there is crying because MT doesn’t always want to jump wherever E decides, often we can hear MT screaming “NO! NO!”. Not because he is hurt or something, but because this is his only way of letting E know that there is no way he want to do or go or say what E want…. Sometimes E have to cry a little when he doesn’t get his ways and sometimes MT cries when he is forced to do/go/say something he doesn’t want to.

E’s mother and I have decided that they go well together. MT needs a big brother to fight a little with and look up too, E needs a younger brother to learn things and help and to learn to show respect. We hope they’ll stay friends. And I know for a fact that MT jumps up and down when he get to see E. And today while E was in kindergarten he missed him deeply and got quite bore of playing alone.

So, I had to play a little with him. But not too much, I’m not a play-with-the-kid-all-day kind of mum. And then we found the bike and he got to ride a little while I started to paint some benches for our garden. (I should have done that for the last 2 years, so about time)!!
plum flower

The spring is over us big time. So many changes in just one week. Our plum tree are blooming and flowers pop up here and there (and so is the weed…). I guess there will be more photos later. I’m trying to finish uploading the photos (to Flickr) from April before I’m moving on to May - but had to upload a few from today….

MT was so tired after being outside all day, so he fall asleep just moments after his head found the pillow. I’m wide awake and love the long light nights. Sadly have I loads of house work to do (as normal) - so I’m using the time on my laptop; fixing my eyes on the screen, ignoring the mess. :o

I guess it’ll work a little while more…. so I can pop over and read some blogs on my blogroll!!

Have a great Wednesday 8)

So, I tried to bake bread today… Many years ago, while I was a student, baking bread was a part of my weekly routine.
Both to save money and because I really don’t like dry bread. :s Not at all!! After I started working it became so much easier to just buy bread from the store. From time to time I’ve tried to bake a little, but I’ve never done it more than once a half year….

But now I have a son that love bread. And eats a lot of it!!
I whish he could love mine , so for the second time this year I started baking bread earlier this day. But now I’m kind of sad that I didn’t look up recipes because the bread turned out barely okei :(

After a good idea from my SIL I’m now on my second batch for the day. This time I’m looking more carefully at the amount of flour and water. And I will add carrots like my SIL do (but also oats that I love my self). In a few hours they’re out of the own (I’m not finished with the dough yet and have to put MT to bed in a short while), I hope they’ll turn out super!!

Whish me luck!! ;)
And please, please, tell me what makes your bread super!

The evidence 1 This is what my son does with bread if he’s hugry and I’m not around….

chili

I’m so proud of my self! I finally got around to try and make my own pasta sauce (so I did’t have more of the bought one, but still..). The thing is; it was easy! With my new blender it was done in no time as all.
This is what I used:
1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
1 carrot
mama africa hot spice
10 slices* of chilies
1 box of crunched tomatoes
a hint of lime
a spoon of sugar
dried basil

I fried the onions and the other stuff, then I added the tomatoes (and lime and sugar for balance..) and let i cook for a little while. Then I pored it all into my blender and wolla a beautiful and spicy sauce. Maybe not so very Italian, but who cares! It tasted good!

And, yes, I ate it up looong before I ever thought of taking a photo, so there.

*these I keep in my freezer. Whenever I buy chilies I chop them up, put them in a box and then put the box in the freezer. Whenever I need some I find the box and use as many slices as I like. No more chilies going bad in this house!
