Every month I get to scrap with some of the most gorgeous kits from various designers in the digi community. I love being a part of The Daily Digi Team – and most of the pages I do for them ends up becomming some of my all time favorites. Below is a look at one I did for the May edition of The Digi Files, using a kit from Vicki Stegall.

I love that face! Have you been snapping or scrapping something lately of someone or something that you really love?

The weather today have been rainy. In the early evening I went out to capture some evidence in my garden. It’s not easy to see, but it is raining as I shoot these.

While outside I shot a few photos of my pots of Daffodils. They have been flowering for weeks now.

MT went to football practice tonight, I wanted some photos of him, but the rainy weather was too much to bring my camera out into. So I made him stand by the window to get a few photos of him once we got home. He wasn’t too happy about the arrangements – but let me shoot a few photos.

He could not help himself for doing a little playing. I was a little bit slow to catch this without the blur (it all happen in just a few seconds) – I love my 9 yr old, and this is a keeper (both the photo and the boy!).

MT took some time to figure out the drawing board I bough him for his new Wii. He found it more fun once he figured out how to do and spent quite a bit of time drawing away.

Right before bed he decided he was hungry anyway (isn’t that typical), so we made some food and while he ate I read to him from Harry Potter #4. Our evenings are running by so fast these days.

When he was finished upstairs, brushing his teeth and stuff, I read the rest of the chapter for him.

He was the one pushing the shutter button down to set the timer and he decided that he would face the camera and smile. Love when that happens!!

I’m often to be found by my mac book in the evening. Reading. Typing. Editing. Watching. Connecting. I love my laptop.

Me sitting by my work space. Not sure about the new hair cut, wish it was shorter. Feels like it is in that weird place in-between short and long. The place I really don’t love that much. Hm..

All these photos above is from late afternoon and early evening. During the day we were both at work and school, and no photos were taken. MT got home first and waited patiently for me to arrive. We made some easy food (pasta with homemade tomato sauce and minced meat, one of our staples), before MT had to run off for football (soccer) practice. I was tired after a couple of long days at work, and so glad the thing I was supposed to do in evening was canceled because of the rain. Thankful that something good actually came off all that gray and boring weather.

Today have been good, demanding, tiering, nice, rainy, laughter, sorrow, early, late, alone, together, young, old – and a little bit too much (to be honest). So I will let the update for our Wednesday Week In The Life come tomorrow, together with the Thursday story.

I need some sleep. I’m not 17 anymore. I’m not even 30…

Tuesday was work and school for us. From morning till almost five in the afternoon. I have not taken any photos of that. That is something I decided before I joined in on Week In The Life again this year: I’m not bringing my camera to work, I’m mostly happy about capturing the things we do together. The two of us.

So here is a few snippets from our day. I took fewer photos this day since we both spent so much of our day not together.

First something that happened while we drove home together. I asked how school had been and what they had done during the day. MT told that they had wafels at school – and then he suddenly remembered how his Great Grandma used to make us wafels – ‘and they tasted better than anyone else’s!‘ He haven’t spoken about her for so long and it was so nice listening to all of the other things that he loved about her. And I wholeheartedly agree with him that we miss having her around us (she died 3 years ago, 98 years old and I think it is awesome that he remembers her so well).

I decided this was the day to make a proper dinner. MT loved the thinly sliced carrots. I love the orange color. It tasted delicious and reminded me of dinners at home on the farm (not the carrots, but the other stuff).

After homework, playing Wii and spending some time outside with his bike. MT still had a few minutes before bedtime and he had nothing to do (that he was allowed to do, since he already had used up his Wii time) – so I challenged him to a board game. That he, off course, won. He’s good at those.

I loved all the sunshine/light that fills our living room at this time of year. I used a timer to put my self in the photos too.

Talk and food when he came home from school. He was in such a good mood.

Even homework and math were easy to plow through today. I love any day like this, fighting over homework are not my favorite way to spend an afternoon.

After the food and the homework came the one thing he was the most happy about. Plugging in the Wii and getting to play. With some good help from me, he got it all ready and was super excited when he could turn it on and put the CD in the console.

Everything worked. And he even figured how to hold the control(s). Eventually.

‘This is so much more fun than Playstation’, he said. To be honest I liked what I saw myself and I am not a game player.

A little leftover 9 from Sunday. I intended to make a card to my kid for his birthday, but I never got around to it. Think this number will end up on a scrapbook page instead. Or maybe in the Project Life album?!

So how was your day?
I was so sure I would have only a few photos, but am pleased to see that this project inspires me to pick up my camera and shoot a few frames when something is happening. I’m so glad about that, because my dslr camera have been collecting dust the last months – and I really do want to capture more of our everyday stuff. Like everyday..! And not all the photos have to be instagram, even though they are a fun and easy way to capture life.

Already I can tell you there are less photos… Ahem.

On his treasure hunt around the house the goal was to gather letters.

Sometimes he had to climb to get high enough.

Other times he spent precious time searching for things (like a book) in the wrong place, only to suddenly remember where he had seen it and run like crazy to find it. Giving his mama plenty of trouble documenting all the seven stops. Lots of blurry photos. Lots of happiness and laughter.

After he had found all seven of the letters. He got to find his first gift. He was so eager to rip it apart and see what it was inside. I think he never would have guessed this one, although he had a pretty good guess on the big gift.

I can draw on this one? Is it a Wii game? …but I don’t have a Wii…..

About time he got to work on the letters, and rather quickly (with a little bit of help from me saying it was one word and that one word was two words put together) – he found that the big gift was hidden in the: BATHTUB!

And a few minutes later he was the very proud owner of his very own BLUE Wii.

The sad news was that it came from England and we needed an adapter before we could hook it up. He was not so happy with this. But the joy of the blue box (and knowing it would be fixed soon) and the anticipation of his guests arriving in only a few short hours kept him pretty pumped up still.

And a little cake batter helped sweeten things up a little as well.

After his uncle, aunt, cousins and grandparents came we gathered around the table in the kitchen and ate dinner. The plan was to BBQ outside (nothing fancy, just some hot dogs), but the rainy weather made for a change of plans.

But the rainy weather did not stop MT for wanting to get some help getting a few things down that was stuck on the roof top. His uncle was kind enough to head out in the not so nice condition and rescued not only one ball but four. MT was even more happy than before. THANK YOU UNCLE O!

In the afternoon it was finally time for cake and for some birthday candles. MT got to blow them out (and yes he did blow them all out in one intake of breath) and we all sang Happy Birthday To You so he almost got embarrassed. Almost.

MT wanted jello for his birthday party, and I think he was the single one person that ate the most of it at the party. He was also the one that finished the leftovers today (Monday). The yellow citrus one being his favorite.

And then, in the evening, after all the guests left and MT got ready for bed, we did what we do most nights. We gathered in the sofa, MT found himself something to draw on and I started reading from our book. Right now we’re a bit longer than half way in Harry Potter #4. It was the perfect ending to a very nice day. And what we needed to find our quiet together. This is one of my most favorite things we do together. Reading books. I hope it’s still a few more years before he gets to old to be read for by his mama. I hope he never stops drawing either, I love this creative side of him – and he is really really good at it too.

This was our Day #1 of Week In The Life of 2012. I love having his birthday be the first day of this year’s project. Gave me lots of reason to capture gems from a special day. You can find a few more words about the day here.

A day filled with celebrations is over. My kid is tucked to bed hours ago. He was tired – and happy. It  has been a good day. Spent together the two of us and spend with our closest family; my brother and his wife and kids and my parents. 

MT have gone treasure hunting for his gift, he have gotten sweet gifts from his visitors and then we spent hours together. An easy dinner, some coffee and tea, a few cakes and MT’s wish of jello as dessert.

In the evening a friend called to congratulate him, throughout the day (and earlier this weekend) a few SMS’s ticked in too. Nice to know we have friends that care and make an effort to reach out. I only wish some of them lived closer so we could invite them over more often.

I’ve taken a bunch of photos. More, I think, than all of February…. I’m going to share a few with you, but not today – tonight all I have is a few instagrams, since those already were online.

This is just a few words summing up our day, before I head to bed as well.

I can hardly believe my sweet little boy is 9 years old. How did he grow so fast? I see a lot of changes in him these days, he’s so much more grown up, he takes care of things, he can be left alone for a while without him getting himself into too much trouble and we have conversations about the earth around us, the animals, the dinosaurs, the solar system, how different people can feel and act, our faith and more -or less – everything (even girls and feeling, but don’t tell anyone I said that!).

And as much as I love that sweet little boy, I’m starting to be very found of this growing and changing boy as well. Most of all because he still is sweet and funny and serious and kind and curious and creative (and more!). I can not wait to see what the days and years ahead will give of good and happy memories. And then I pray for wisdom and patience in the difficult times that I’m sure is bound to come as well.

MT has been my treasure ever since I met him. He’s named after my Grandfather on my mothers side, and his name is so true = Gods gift.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY BIG BOY! May there be many more years to celebrate life with you!

Tomorrow (or in just a few hours actually) we are going to celebrate MT’s birthday. He have been waiting for tomorrow to come all day long. Anticipating both the gifts and the visitors.

To make the morning hours, before our guests arrives, a little bit more fun – and also because he loves a good treasure hunt – I’ve hidden his gift somewhere in our house.

To get there he have to follow photo clues to different spaces in our home. In each of these spaces there are also hidden a letter, that he has to find before he’ll get the next photo clue.

When he have been to all the spaces, and found all the letters, he have to make a word with them. This word will then tell where the treasure is hidden. It’s going to be fun following him around. I hope to shot a few photos of him and the excitement and rush to find the treasure. Wishing for better lighting conditions than tonight when I hid the letters and took the photo clues. It was pit dark around here before I got to start, since I had to wait for him to fall asleep. No fun in him discovering where and how until tomorrow is here

I’m also planning on starting Ali’s week in the life one day early. I don’t think I’m going to take as many photos as last time – but I do hope to document the details of our week non the less. I’m planning to share here on the blog each evening (about the day before), but I’ll see what will happen – the week is pretty busy.

Taking photos of our life, both the special days and the every day ones feels like treasure hunting to me. Sometimes I need that to actually see how much I have to be thankful and grateful for. Participating in Week In The Life is for me a great way to slow down a little, see what our life looks like and tell the small stories of what makes us us. I can’t capture everything that a week holds, but something is so much more than nothing.

I’ve been working on my blog layout for hours tonight. Finally I feel like I’m on the right track. Now I can display photos BIG, like I love – I’ve been able to customize the with and hight of the header, post area and the sidebar (that it just the thing that makes someone like me happy!) – and I might even add a slider with sticky posts, I’m not sure if I want to keep it, but I can do what ever I want down the road.. Possibilities, people, that is important to have. Both in life – and in blogging.

Anyway.

Hope you’ll like the new look and please take a look around. If you find something strange, or something that doesn’t work please let me know! I still have a few things to tweak, but first some sleep and then a day (more or less) away from the computer.

By the way I got a new hair cut today, it was seriously about time – as you can clearly see in the left image above – and it was so good to get it shorter. I’m really bad at going to the hair dresser, I think it’s been almost two years since last time. It’s just one of those things I never find the time, energy or money for, but when I do I enjoy it.

I should really do it more often!

Lately I haven’t been good about sharing my layouts here, though, but since I am on a roll here (posting more than once each moth. ahem.), I’m going to share with you what I made with this month’s products. And then, off course, highly recommend the files it to you if you have a few bucks to spare. Ok. So lets talk layouts.

This one is kind of special to me, because this drawing underneath is MT’s first (and so far only) drawing made in Photoshop Elements. It was fun to teach him about the program (layers and tools and such) and I was amazed about how much he understood right away (it took me weeks to get the grips of layers – he took to it within minutes!). I decided to write this one in our own language (= Norwegian of the nynorsk kind) since MT really doesn’t read and understand English all that well – and I guess he will find this one fun to read and show.

We’re having a quiet Friday afternoon around here. MT have just watched a movie, now he’s sitting by me here in the sofa drawing dinosaurs (I think he got inspired watching Ice Age 3. LOL). I’m still nursing my cold, but feel so much better today. It’s been a good day.
