One Little Word | Thankful #6

Checking The Weather

I feel like I’ve spent most of the weekend in church (or planning for church services). It really is a bit much when there is a service both Saturday and Sunday and when the week was so filled with events as it was,as well. Sometimes I get a little tired, to be honest, but still (and thankfully) there is many things to be grateful for on this day too (Sunday). Although we did not get to home cook  a fancy dinner together, at least we spent the Sunday together as a family. And MT was happy to have a quiet day where he could draw some more awesome drawings – I am so thankful for his love of drawing! – and be outside playing some football (soccer).

First a little note on the prompts and the way I use them:
The last few days I’ve stayed a bit off of Katerina’s prompt for the day, but I’m seriously inspired by them and like to use them as my starting point as I get her newsletter in the mail each morning. And if you haven’t seen her newsletter (it’s all renewed for this moth! Love it.) – you should take a look at the issue for Sunday here.

This Sunday I want to use the prompt from Saturday; a word I am thankful for.

I am thankful for my one little word of the year: FAITH.

Thankful For My One Little Word | Nov. 6-2011

I am thankful for the way it have made my belief in God, in my self and in others a priority in my life. I am thankful for the way it has pushed me to try and make a difference, daring to take chances I would not have taken before. I’m still going baby steps, but I am moving closer to the me I want to be and the life I want to live. One little word really do matter.

What are you thankful for today?

I use the prompts from Katrina Kennedy’s November Photo Idea List as a starting off point and find at least one thing I am grateful for each and every day. Family | Thankful #5

Mr. Funny Face

This weekend is mostly work for me, so it was so nice that MT could spend some hours at his uncle and aunt’s place instead of tagging along with me.

We had a special remembrance service at church where we invited the families, that had lost a dear one the last year, to come and be together for an hour of song, prayers, lighting of candles and hope. It was a good service, but not something MT would have had so much use for. He was better off playing with his cousins.

When I got to their house to pick him up and stepped out of the car I looked down on my phone only to find a message from my brother:

Are you coming soon? Dinner is ready!

It was such a sweet and nice surprise. Tasty as well. Thank you so much guys!!

November Light | Thankful #4

Thankfulf For November Light

I am tired and should have been in bed an hour ago. But, hey, I have to get my thankful stuff down before I forget!

Today I am thankful for the LIGHT of November.
It fades just too fast in the afternoon, but before that – I love it! I’ve been watching it all day while working and when I had a few minutes to grab my camera I took a little tour of the garden. Look:

I am also Thankful, and quite a bit proud, of MT for being such a lover of books and reading. Mostly he loves to be read too (usually we read before he goes to bed), but he also can be found reading by himself. Today we took some extra time in the evening and finished the second book about Harry Potter. I have read them a few times already, but this is MT’s first round of the books. He loves them and can hardly wait to see the movie (since his momma demands that he read the book first, so he can make his own in-head-movie before he sees what others have dreamed up).

On A Busy Day | Thankful #3

Colorful

This day have been a long one and demanding as well. Sometimes my work takes over my life and I feel like there is no room for me to breathe. This is especially true when the day is filled to the brim with meetings and classes and I interact with people all day long, and in the evening too.

I am tired, but also thankful for the good happening from this day.

I am thankful for the help of a friend today
I am thankful for a meeting going well
I am thankful for some nice and sweet words said to me.

Thankful For Tea | Nov. 3-2011

But most of all I am thankful for my little ritual of drinking a cup of tea in the evening. It gives me warmth and slows me down. Gives me a place to breath. Even on a long and busy day.

My favorite tea right now is Lemon & Lime Zest from London Fruit & Herb company.

I love all their flavors though. And they have a bunch!

And fruit tea is really the best way to go in the evening, doesn’t make you as awake as other kinds ;)

Home & Time | Thankful #2

Thankful For Home | Nov. 2-2011

Over the last 15 years I have lived many places and in many different houses. Each of them have brought something to my life. Something that has helped shape me. Something that made me grateful for having lived just there for shorter or longer periods of my life.

Thankful For Home | Nov. 2-2011

Everywhere I have lived I have brought my home with me. My home is not only a physical space. It is the place where I can relax, be my self, regroup and pull my self together when needed. It is where I have my base and where I get to chose how I want everything to be (more or less). I love that I have brought my home with me to everyone of the houses and places I have lived. I also love what I have brought with me to the next place – and how each of these places have influenced and grown my home.

Thankful For Home | Nov. 2-2011

In the last six years I have had someone with me sharing my space and home. Making it our home and our place of rest and comfort. My life have truly changed so much because of this. New joys and also new struggles. I can not imagine my life being any different right now. We belong together. We share the good, the bad, the ugly and the love that takes us through it all.

My home is my favorite place. Not a geographic place, but the place I have with me wherever I live. My home is where my heart is.

Thankful For Time | Nov. 2-2011

Today I am thankful for my HOME.
I am also so thankful for the TIME to think long and deep thoughts and the slow pace of my day.

I really needed it.

Hello November | Thankful #1

Helloo November

Hello November! You came warm, wet and foggy!

Yesterday and today we have been in a kind of Halloween mode around here. Not that we celebrate the holiday much, but even here in Norway you should work hard not to notice it when the date drawing close; with the toy stores crammed with all kinds of spooky and creepy costumes – and lots of candy everywhere. I have said for a while that I wish the holiday we should adopt from the US was the Thanksgiving holiday, not the Halloween one. I know we do not have the history for these holidays anyway, but the stores most certainly do not let that stop the assortment overload of scary masks and buckets for candy now have it?! So why not also adopt Thanksgiving and give it our own little homey twist?

I can think of a million things we can be thankful for, both as a nation and for me personally – I have off course not the time or energy to write down or say out loud all the millions of things I am thinking of (!) BUT I really would love and like to write down one (or a few) things I am thankful for each and every day of this month. So maybe we haven’t adopted this holiday of Giving Thanks in our country just yet, but that will not stop me from having my own little thanksgiving party in my life, now does it.

There even might be a turkey at the end of the road. :)

And, with me I am taking the Thankful Prompt Katrina Kennedy have gathered together for the month. You can find it here at her site Capture Your 365 (you should become a member and start sharing your thankful photos as well! I’d love to see you there!). I love all the thankful prompts and will try to fill each and every day with a photo of something I am thankful for as well as the words.

For November 1st I will use the prompt and just state the obvious.
This is the person that I am the most thankful for:

Thankful For You | Nov. 1-2011

I guess it was no surprise, at least not if you have been following this blog for the last 6 years. But it is also so very true! There is no one else on this earth of ours that I am more thankful for than my sweet and happy kid. No matter if the day have been filled with grumpiness and unhappy words and faces (like this afternoon. Sigh. Mine as well as his). Love you big boy!

Now, the really fun thing would be to hear what you are thankful for as well. Please share some words or thoughts or link us up to your blog or photo in the comments. Thanks!
