Well, HELLO THERE June! You’re early!
I can hardly believe that May is over. It went so fast and was so packed full of happenings, both good and bad. So much living and so much work. I hardly have words for it, even though I really would like to tell – and looking down the list belove I now see that I do have words, so here we go:
I’m doing this in bullet points.
- I managed to hoist the flag two times during the month of May. Yay me. I was really unsure if I could manage it. But then it turned out to be really easy. (And now, sitting here, I feel kind off bad because I forgot to flag for the funeral last Friday, got to do better next time…. As it’s the nice thing to do, living as close to the church as we do.)
- I joined a speed scrap for iNSD (interNational Scrapbooking Day) and had some fun
- We had some really beautiful Confirmation Services
- Some friends of mine had hard time keeping it together.
- I helped my dad at the farm, a little. It was fun to drive the tractor again and feel the dust. Only wish I could do it more often.
- We had some seriously busy days at work
- MT started the outdoor football season (soccer), and bought new sneakers to fit..
- We had the last Youth Club of the year.
- And prepared a whole bunch of services. May is full of holy days.
- My nephew celebrated his Confirmation Day. A fantastic day to be a part of. His parents had prepared a feast in his honor and we celebrated with family and a few friends. We love you big kid.
- I helped clean the school yard in time for our national day; together with other parents.
- We had guests from the western part of the country. So nice!! Come back soon, please!
- I got a new hair cut. Got to love that!
- We celebrated MT’s birthday with family and friends. Finally. Almost one month after he had his birthday in April.
- MT had many days off school. Because of all the Holy Days. It was nice. And different. He loved it. And missed school too.
- We celebrated the National Day of Norway on May 17th. MT was proud to walk in the procession together with his class. Singing and shouting. So happy.
- MT had his first (and second) Football Match of his life. It was a BIG day. And he had so much fun. Jumping around on the field, cheering on his team mates (almost forgetting to play himself because of all the excitement).
- I got some really big bills in the mail. That was not so fun.
- I got to know a few of the other parents at school better.
- I had my first meeting with the first couple of several I’m marrying this summer.
- One of my colleague got seriously ill.
- I went on a little 24 hour (more or less) tour with my colleagues and got to smell the ocean. Nice.
- I met Mathilde and Oskar. The class stuffed animals. It was nice.
- We moved our bedrooms away from the warm and light morning sun.
- I had only one funeral the entire month. Great.
- I did a few scrapbook pages.
- I took a few photos. But I haven’t uploaded any of them to either flicker or my computer yet. Yes, I know. A busy month. With a lot of small and big happenings all the time.
- I almost forgot. We’ve already had our first thunder storm of the season. It got me soaking wet trying to rescue the laundry hanging outside…..
- And now. We’re just waiting for the summer to take over…. For that we’ll meet June with a smile!!
- I have taken a photo with my iPhone though, each and every day with the exception of one. I’m happy with that. (And I’ll soon show them too)
As soon as I have gone through these daily photos I’ll post a link to the flickr photo that will take you somewhere. But for now, only the image will do….
See you around! Remember to enjoy life!
Just a little not from me tonight.
It’s been one of those really busy weeks for us. Mostly work, but also a few other things chiseled itself into the days. I’m happy to say I don’t have the flu, even thought I had to spend most of the morning on the sofa yesterday – I was running out of energy and needed some recharging….
The evenings I’ve spent being inspired by a card making wonder maker Kristin Werner – and it’s been so much fun – and about the only thing I could manage in the late evenings after some days and afternoons with work. Here is one of my favorite Christmas card videos, if it ever slow down around here I want to make something like this and send out to a few dear friends (but more realistically, I’ll be sending you my love with a letter printed out here at home with a few gorgeous photos of my kid on it – and possibly some snow trowed in for good measure….) lol. It gets me inspired non the less and one day I will make my own cards, that is a promise!!
Anyhow, I’m working on my sermon tonight – so I’d better get around writing a few words before I jump in bed in a short hour for my beauty sleep. Really need all the sleep I can get these days…. A few words from Phil. 1:6-7a to end of this blog post:
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart…..
MT has stated practicing his writing skills.
We’ve been busy running around meeting people today. Some familiar faces (thanks for dinner SIL! + for candy mom!) and some new faces (nice to meet you new colleagues!).
We visited my new office (where I start in October), I’ve been interviewed for a local newspaper right outside one of the churches (the only one of three that I haven’t been inside off) – and only a few 100 meters down from the new house. [Being interviewed is always both a bit scary and a bit fun, I only hope I found the right words and that I didn't say anything stupid(!) - I probably did.] Then we walked to the store and bought a little lunch snack before we headed back to town and stopped by my brother’s house. I so look forward to doing this on a regular basis when we move closer! At around 4:30 pm MT finally got his wish for the day a stop by a indoor swimming pool(s) – he had so much fun and I promised we’ll return once we’ve moved there. He’s getting really good at practicing his swimming, not long before he actually can do it (and not only say that he can swim). [But in the end he got to confident and got into a little trouble. He broke the not-in-deep-water rule, one of the few really important ones when I'm not in the water with him. So he won't be taking another swim in the pool this month.....not that I planned it anyhow.] At the end of the the day we met mom and dad outside the store, just for a quick little chat. Nice to see them too. Not many photos from today, though…
Tomorrow he’s going to a farm with his class. Better figure out where the farm is(!) Night!!
hehe, I’m trying to make my self feel better. That’s the only reason for the heading!!
So my car stopped on me yesterday. I was in a hurry, on my way to the farm to practice with my brother (we are going to sing for Grandma – as we promised her so many years ago.) Then the pastor should come by and we should prepare the funeral with him. I’m so glad I can concentrate on the words about Grandma and then the other pastor takes care of the rest. I think my kiddo need me by his side to – and I need some room for crying a little as well.
But I digress (happens a lot lately).
I was driving. And then suddenly the car engine just shut down, I heard a scratching noise of metal against metal and that was that. Luckily I found a place park the car and I got it out of the way completely. I was so angry with it and to be honest a bit freaked out! I had no time for that kind of thing on a busy day.
But I had to wait. A neighbor stopped and kept me company (thank you!) and my dad and brother come by as well. In the end the rescue truck also came and brought my car to the garage. And there it is. I should call them and ask, but I don’t want to hear how much it’s going to cost me.
Oh, well, the good thing is that now I’m driving my old car again. (I gave it to my daddy and he repaired it – smart thing). And that is kind of nice. MT loves it too.
Have a great day everybody – and please (MT is telling me to say it): talk nice about and to your car; it deserves it for driving all those miles in all kinds of condition! lol.
I’ve just made a new photo book with my latest scrapbook pages. I wanted to add some black and white photos as well and in the process I decided to add some word art to each of them. This was fun!! I can’t wait to see the result. If good, I’ll share
The photo above is from Christmas Eve, my dad and my son are good friends.
Life has been pretty busy lately, but we are good. Now I’m ready for work after enjoying a cup of coffee and some blog reading….. And as I write this, sitting in my kitchen, I look at our elk grassing in the field above our house. I say our because he’s a regular guest by now. He’s a young fellow, out on his own for the first time, not sure when to be scared of people. I guess he’ll learn to flee when MT is outside, but I’m watching him; even young he’s a big fella. He is a beauty though, and right now I don’t want to go out and scare him away. But I have to – work is waiting.
I might need some more coffee………….
