Cara of Sweet Tomato Designs have given me a place on her CT team. I’m so happy and can’t wait to start creating with her designs. As a CT for Pretty Scrappy (the store) I’ve already scrapped with two her kits, the Darjeeling Kit and Autumn Bliss

I love her deep, rich colors; the yellow in both of these kits are making me feel light and warm :D This is what I have made before (click images for credits and journaling):

And this one I made yesterday (with an old photo I’ve been waiting to scrap forever):

explore. learn.

I only wish I knew when this photo was captured, but the cell phone ¨photo file doesn’t tell me that. My guess is 2-3 or something years ago. I know for a fact that it’s taken when we lived in the western part of Norway, but that is all (at least for now). :)

We got our first snow of the season today. I was planning moving to our new house, but I’m not driving on snowy roads with my summer tires – so now I’m blogging instead :D

Better go and pack a few more boxes, this snow is bound to go away in a few hours and then we’ll see if we are in the mood for moving like planned – or if we rather stay here a little bit more (having fun surfing on our broad band, hehe). In that case we are going to the store because we are out of a few essentials…… Anyhow, see you around!!

My Wednesday didn’t exactly go as planned. I did not sweep my floor, I did not participate in the speed scrap at scrapmatters and my car did not get winter tire in time…..

Why?
Because of the snow. Because I got stuck in an uphill road with my dads car. Neither coming up or down.

I had to borrow my dad’s car because then my car only had summer tires. He came to my rescue and was about to change my car’s tires. I borrowed his car to go fetch MT from preschool, just like I do every day. I should never have attempted to drive up the steep uphill road, though, up to the school and kindergarten. I kind of knew I wouldn’t be able to drive up it when I saw the other car on the left side of the road, in the ditch.

I got about half way up the hill before the car started spinning. I did not dare to back it down the hill. I’m not very good at backing cars on slippery roads, that much I know. I was also afraid of crashing into the other car (the one in the ditch). So I put on the brakes and the signal and let the car stay where it was. I left the engine running, thinking it might make it easier for others to see it when the lights were on. I went downhill to ask the lady that had driven her car off the road if she was okay. And she said she was. She was on the phone, I imagined that she spoke with someone to help her get the car out of the ditch. I left and went uphill to pick up MT, and to borrow the phone so I could call my dad. I kind of hoped someone could help me drag the car up the hill, but then I also knew my dad was the right man to figure out what was the smartest move. I made MT put on his boots and a warm jacket. I knew we had to wait for a half an hour or so before my dad would come. He had to walk up from our house, about a mile away. MT did not find it funny standing by the car waiting. (I didn’t find it that funny either, I wish I never had driven up that hill at all. I should have known better, it’s not the first time this uphill road is difficult. Embarrassing and irritating.)

Uphill/ downhill. My car got stuck at in the left corner of the second photo. The first car in the ditch lay a little below the green box at the right side of the road and the other car stopped dead a few meters before the traffic sign.

Anyway after what seemed like a long long time, my dad finally arrived. Poor guy. And he got in the car and backed it down the hill, slowly, slowly, slowly, because the road was seriously slippery! When he was well down, he came out of the car and went to talk to the woman with the other car. We both did ask her if there were something we could help with and such. While we were talking we stood right below her car and there wasn’t much traffic in the road, since school and kindergarten now were closed.

We didn’t pay much attention to the car at first. But I saw it driving down, not fast, but not slowly either. Suddenly I noticed that the wheels didn’t turn, and I realized she had lost control of the car in the same moment as my dad yelled “get out of the way!“. I grabbed MT and pushed him into the ditch close to the other car. I fell, but thankfully it didn’t matter. Just seconds later the car crashed into the ditch right below our feet. No one got harmed, but it was so close that it made me really scared.

This was the day my son – ALMOST – got run over!
MT keep saying “I thought the car should run me over. My legs are all shaky”.

I don’t think the driver of the car got all this. I’m not sure; she never did ask us if we were alright. She might have been occupied with other things, I don’t know. But the event shock me up quite a bit. Maybe more than it did MT. I knew how bad it would be if the car had hit him. That thought made my legs shake as well!

My dad drove MT home while I started walking downhill (dad’s car have only two seats). That helped me shake off the scary thoughts and focus about how great and fantastic it was that no one got hurt.

So that was my first day of snow this winter. A bit more scary than I like it, but thankfully we are going strong, both me and the kid – and my dad. And he came back the very next morning changing the 3 remaining tires, so now I’m all set for winter. Thank you dad!

But that uphill road I tend to not drive. It’s easier just to walk that bit for a while………

I’m planning to make a scrapbook page about this. But I don’t have photos from this, so it’s on hold right now. This is what I made about our walk to preschool on Thursday, that was a beautiful winter morning, a much better day!

winter arrived

changing tireI was planning to write a post yesterday evening about our first day of snow. But I never got to it, sadly. Later today Tomorrow I’m hoping to get i written, though. I have to. Before I forget most of it. That was one of those day when everything happened. Kind off…..

Anyway I have some photos for you from yesterday, our second day of snow. I walked MT to preschool, since my car had only 1 winter tire and I didn’t dare to drive it in the snow (I am to smart for that ;) ).

It was a nice walk and when I got home my dad soon arrived to change the other 3 tires. How nice is he!!

Here is a few more photos:

snowman The first tiny itzy bitzy of snow came tonight. MT was thrilled and jumped in bed with joy. He was the first to look out the window and by his scream of happiness I was sure it snowed cats and dogs. But it didn’t, just a few flakes in the air and a tiny spritz of snow on the ground. (The photo is from 2005! My favorite snow monster ;) )

It is the first snow non the less, and now I wonder if I’m ready for this cold, white and beautiful season. Have I changed my car tires? NO. Have I covered my flowers and the well? NO. Have I put aside summer furniture on my veranda? NO. Have I removed the ashes from my wood stove? YES.

I might have a few things to take care off. Anyone want to change the tires on my car???!

Anyway, I have a to-do list on the INside as well! It’s short, but not easy as it sounds:

  1. Get the things off my floors and vacuum!

I have a bad habit of not picking up after me when something falls to the floor. Need I say anything more for you to get the picture?

The reward is computer time. I haven’t created anything for a few days and I feel the urge. I love to work with my photos, make digi scrapbook pages and mess around with my PSE (photoshop elements). I learn something new every day! I really want to figure out how to make my own papers and elements, how cool wouldn’t that be. This is a few examples of what I’ve made so far, just trying out using my own photo as a background and blending and such…..

It makes me so happy to have colors and creativity in my life again!

Speaking of scrapbooking. There is this thing called a CT-team (as in creativity team, or something), every serious designer (of the scrapbook kind) have one of these. When you’re on this team you both get and give, you get to download and scrap with free supplies and then you give the designer credits and lets her use the scrapbook page made with the designers papers and elements (the kit) for promoting their stuff. Sometimes the rules are a bit different (they can be anything, really) but this is the basic. This is also a great way for anyone scrapping digitally to get in touch with others, to learn and get inspired. To be on a ct-team you have to apply and be approved. I’ve applied for two. The first one was for a one kit only. The second one is to be on a ct-team for a shop and do LO’s for different designers every two week. I haven’t started the latest one yet – but the first one is finished, and here is what I made for Jessica of Scrapbook Ideas with her color theory: OLIVE kit:

Fathers world

You can read a bit more about this in my scrapping LIME blog (there is even a more few more post about it, the link is to the first post) ;)

So that is a bit of my life right now ;)

By the way; if you got some time on your hands and do love to use your hands making stuff – you should head over to Ali for this super idea for capturing the December memories. I wish to make something similar, but maybe just digitally at first?!?!?!?!?!?! It is a really great idea, but then Ali tend to have great ideas ;)

Take care and enjoy the fall into winter season!!!
