Just a few words from me in the middle of the night, as I sit here in my kitchen not wanting to go to bed. I’m so happy my dad came by with some more fire wood the other day, I love having (at least) one good warm room in the house!
Today, after church, we went by to visit my brother and his family. Just because it’s been a while since we last saw them and because we had a couple of hours to spend not sitting in front om the computer screen
I’m so glad they where all at home and for catching up a little bit with them. They are in the middle of remodeling their kitchen and it was fun to see it in real life (and not just from photos). I wish I had time and energy to swing by them more often, though. And I know for a fact that MT does as well. Oh, well, they’ll never know when we’ll come knocking on the door next. Maybe soon, maybe later….
Lately life have been kind of busy, we’ve also been a bit sick and have had a few struggles. It seems like things are settling down now, though, and I’m really glad about that. Being sick just takes too much time, and since most of my work doesn’t get done when I’m sick, I have a lot to get through when I’m finally back at it. I’m still not caught up after being sick in the beginning of October – and it drives me completely nuts!
A few days ago (almost a week, to be honest) we got our second downpour of snow this season. MT was thrilled (even though he also mentioned looking forward to summer. LOL.) – and before I knew it he was out and about and ready to go skiing. I don’t think it was all that easy, the snow layer was a bit thin, but he got to try it out and that was all he wanted. Since that night we’ve gotten even more snow, so it’s a beautiful winter land outside our door step. And I love it too, for the time being (I’m not being this supportive of winter come February…), and since the sun isn’t shining on our house during the winter months, the snow gives at least something light to look out on. Only it feels a bit cold around here now.
This is really a random not well thought through post. Oh, well, it’s just a snapshot of the chaos my head is I guess
Sorry about that! I haven’t been blogging for a while and it is just fun to throw a few words together sending it out to you. Thank you so much for reading them all!
Later…
Searched around some old photos and found this gem from 10. Sept 2006. So cute!
I had such good plans about blogging regularly this time. Even when I went back to work after the vacation. But it’s really hard sometimes to find time, especially when I also want to do some scrapbooking
So this past week / weekend I’ve been scrapping my heart out – and it’s been great! But on this last night of August 2010 I just wanted to make a little post. Just to say hay, just to tell I’m still here living my life both online and inline..
We are getting back into the everyday life, both kiddo and I. Starting to get used to the early mornings and the scheduling to make sure we manage to do it all… So far it’s been good, even though it’s been a challenge to remember everything some days.
I think I’m ready for September now. It’s fall around here anyway. The nights are starting to get darker and the weather is getting colder. I’m not sure I like it. But I will embrace it and enjoy the colors.
Tomorrow I’ll bring my camera along in the car. I might run into something beautiful that needs my attention and snapping.
I don’t think I’ve mention this before, but MT have started reading books. Not only cartoons, but real books. Books written for children, off course, but anyway books. Last week I was a bit late coming up to sing for him at bedtime, so he found a book I bought him this summer and started reading in it (I’ve been trying all summer to get him interested, lol..). When I finally got up he asked if he please could read a little bit more after I said good night. It’s so exciting, he told me. I was excited too, I spent my childhood borrowed in books and I love reading! So I told him, yes, you might read two more pages – and then you have to sleep. Yay! I’m so proud of him and LOVE the way they are teaching the love of reading at school!
O.k. so this has been a totally random post, so I might as well add a photo from a previous august day (26th 2005). Originally I had someĀ plan of a “5 years ago post”, but I never got around to it. It’s the same this year anyway; time to harvest at the farm – if only the rain could stop! The oats are beautiful at close op
See you around!
1. I made pesto and pasta for lunch today. Reminds me that I HAVE to grow basil at home next summer.
2. I can’t believe we’re only 1 day from moving. Iiiiik + Yippi
3. I’ve ordered a super fast broad band for our new place. Can’t wait for it to be installed (2-3 weeks).
4. I’m on the search for a new stove (electric), the one I have is really old and used by my grandma before I got it from her 15 years ago or something. I’m torn about it, because it means spending more money (that I don’t have), but excited to get to cook on my very own new stove for the first time in my life! Recommendations is appreciated.
[This photo is old, from my previous house in Sogn - I was making food for my sons baptism and made a real mess of it
But it was the only one I could find with the stove in it.... Hehe]
5. Today I can’t spell. So glad I have extensions that help me fix most of them….
6. My kid has his last day at this school, he was super excited about the cakes they where going to eat. I wonder if he understands that this is good bye?!? I know he’s looking forward to start the new school, so it’ll probably be alright.
7. Being without job for a month has been SO GOOD. I’ve done a lot of thinking and regrouping, I’ve joined a few new things online (classes and more) and have gotten some time just for me and the things I love to do (blog, take photo, type words, read blogs and more).
8. MY CAR IS FINISHED. It really made my day yesterday when I got the news. The car has been in the garage for almost 2 months, and even though I’ve driven my old car (that I gave to daddy – and now he’s been without..) – it shall be soooo good to get to drive the red car again!! A new engine has been installed (!) so now I hope everything will run smoothly. And hopefully there will be no more car issues in the next couple of years (or more..).
9. My friend Bea is coming to visit me in a couple of weeks. Sweet. Maybe I’ll get her to cut my hair?! It’s that time again for sure… Looking forward to nice talks and lots of smiles – and images of her new baby girl grandchild. Yay!!
10. I LOVE the beautiful frosty mornings. Even better when I get winter tires and a ticker coat.
A few things, finds and happenings lately:
1. Monday September 21th was the first day with morning frost in my area. It was beautiful and cold! And a reminder to go looking for those thicker jackets; in the mornings we really need them. (Just a few minutes after I took this photo the sun was covered in clouds again; so glad I managed to get the gorgeous light of the early morning.)
2. I love going to IKEA, but why on earth do they have to make their packages so heavy??! Some of us are not bodybuilders… (yea, I know, it’s a shock!) I had so much trouble getting them on to the trolley all by my self. I guess I looked kind of funny struggling with package after package of the Billy shelves kind.
When we got to the car I had to unwrap each package (almost) and put the items in one by one to fit it all in the car. It took forever, and MT nicely pointed out: “Mummy, your face is red! Hihi..”. Very kind of you, kiddo! (He was right, though.).
3. I placed my first 4 boxes in our new house last Friday (September 18th). They were filled with books from my office. Can’t wait to go there and put the shelves together and start putting the books into them. My goal is to get the home office up and running as soon as possible. Here is a few photos of the room where I want my office to be

4. MT took the bus home on Monday and Wednesday, all by himself. I’m so proud of him! Monday morning he was so close not to do it, since I wasn’t going to be there putting him on the right bus and all (some of the point of him taking the bus is for me not to drive the car up there in the first place.. ahem.). Imagen how happy he was running towards me from the bus stop by our house. He did it.
(with a bit of help from his teacher and the bus driver, but still). He’s going to take the bus this few last days at this place, when we move to the new place we are living even closer to the school than here…
5. I get a little scared when I think that my brother is coming here with his truck to help me move (most of) the furniture to our new home in just a couple of days . Eeek. I’m packing books and glaswear, hoping to get the most important stuff to our new home now (we can always get the other stuff later…).It’s making me a bit stressed out to be honest, but I can’t wait to start putting it all together in our new home!!
