It so white and beautiful outside right now. It’s not yet snow, but the cold weather we’re having the last few days have covered everything in ice crystals and rime. I love it and it makes our early dark afternoon so much lighter too.
Today I’ve been to our old house to get a few things. It is like walking down memory line to be there, I still love the house – but it feels like it belonged to so long ago…. and in a way that is what it does. I’m so glad for where we are right now, for the changes we had to make to live a happier life – but there is also something good that was left behind. Something I wish we still had.
Apparently I feel a little moody tonight. So glad I have a webinar with Katrina Kennedy to attend in the middle of the night (yep, I do that kind of crazy things every now and then) – listening to photo talk for an hour will make me so much more happier. And maybe I also can find some sollutions for the low light situation we have going here. I sure miss the sunlight during the winter (for four months the sun doesn’t shine on our house because of the low sun and a hill to the south of us. Not a fan of that!).
So how are your day going?
Just a few words from me in the middle of the night, as I sit here in my kitchen not wanting to go to bed. I’m so happy my dad came by with some more fire wood the other day, I love having (at least) one good warm room in the house!
Today, after church, we went by to visit my brother and his family. Just because it’s been a while since we last saw them and because we had a couple of hours to spend not sitting in front om the computer screen
I’m so glad they where all at home and for catching up a little bit with them. They are in the middle of remodeling their kitchen and it was fun to see it in real life (and not just from photos). I wish I had time and energy to swing by them more often, though. And I know for a fact that MT does as well. Oh, well, they’ll never know when we’ll come knocking on the door next. Maybe soon, maybe later….
Lately life have been kind of busy, we’ve also been a bit sick and have had a few struggles. It seems like things are settling down now, though, and I’m really glad about that. Being sick just takes too much time, and since most of my work doesn’t get done when I’m sick, I have a lot to get through when I’m finally back at it. I’m still not caught up after being sick in the beginning of October – and it drives me completely nuts!
A few days ago (almost a week, to be honest) we got our second downpour of snow this season. MT was thrilled (even though he also mentioned looking forward to summer. LOL.) – and before I knew it he was out and about and ready to go skiing. I don’t think it was all that easy, the snow layer was a bit thin, but he got to try it out and that was all he wanted. Since that night we’ve gotten even more snow, so it’s a beautiful winter land outside our door step. And I love it too, for the time being (I’m not being this supportive of winter come February…), and since the sun isn’t shining on our house during the winter months, the snow gives at least something light to look out on. Only it feels a bit cold around here now.
This is really a random not well thought through post. Oh, well, it’s just a snapshot of the chaos my head is I guess
Sorry about that! I haven’t been blogging for a while and it is just fun to throw a few words together sending it out to you. Thank you so much for reading them all!
Later…
It was just fantastic having this day off and spending it at my parents home. Mom cooked dinner and we surfed along on the new broad band. MT was outside with Grandpa and later he came with me walking (MT) /skiing (me) a little in the woods. It was snowing (like it was all weekend long) so I couldn’t bring my camera outside for more than a short period, when I did I photographed MT while he was snowboarding. I kind of got so caught up in the-taking-photo bit, that I completely forgot to move when he headed for me. So we crashed. My knee and his head. Poor guy! I should have seen it coming; literary!
We went back home early evening.
My dad came to watch MT as I had Confirmant Class x2 and youth club in the evening. It was freezing cold and I was super tired, but we had a great time there in the local ski slope. Here you can read about the devotion one of the young girls had. A really good one, I might add!
The photo is taken with my cell phone – and it’s not great – but I still want it since this was the best part of the day

photo is from January 21th – I took a few today but they are still in my camera….
Tonight we went ski carouseling again. Thankfully it was not as cold as last week, then it was freezing 15 degrees Celsius below zero. Brrrr. Today it was around 5 below zero, I think. We teamed up with our neighbors and instead of hanging around the short track, as usual, we went for the long track this time. I have to admit that I wasn’t eager to go the 3 kilometer long ski track on my feet, but my neighbor drag me along
MT was happy to try out some new tracks and to walk in the light uphill and downhill, through forest and over fields.
It was a nice track, special nice because it was lighted and I had someone to talk with along the way. The only thing that I didn’t like very much was that my kiddo went ahead of us (and also left my neighbor’s kid with us adults). He’s eager to ski and he’s good at it – but I told him afterward that he must wait for us and wait for his friend. Hopefully he chooses to do it next time!
He told me that he almost cried when he got to the finish line since I wasn’t there, I asked if he knew where I was and he told me that yes he knew I was behind him and that I would come. Next time I’m bringing my skis, I have to keep up with that guy!! (right. who am I kidding?!?)
Anyhow, I was so cold when I got back home. My chest felt sore and I saw a cold coming (or worse), even a big cup with warm cacao didn’t warm me all the way through. I feel better now, though, so hopefully this will pass – but I do keep close to the wood stove and tomorrow I will wear something warm….. Still I feel kind of proud of my self; I don’t walk 3 K’s every day!
Today was Saturday and as always this is a slow day at out house where we’ll do whatever we likes to do (I usually plan to do some cleaning and clearing, but most times I tend to overlook the mess and do other things. Like surfing, blog hopping, scrapping and reading for MT. Much more fun! I’m a super bad house keeper…).
We was outside this Saturday as well. Some gorgeous sunshine going on, but we got out a bit late so the many of the photos are a bit gray…. Nice to be outside, though!
I spent the day at home reading up on Confirmant Class plans and books. It was nice to have a whole day to dig a bit deeper into things. I’m planning to do that regularly, at least twice a month.
It was a nice glorious day and nice to be outside during the day, I took time to walk down to my mail box and up again
– the photo are from that walk. After MT got home we spent it doing just what we wanted. Spending time on the computer (such geeks!), I had a few LO’s and Brag Books to make for the Pretty Scrappy blog train – and MT didn’t mind some playing time either.
This morning I got up early, as I always do when I have the service at church. I like to have this time to go over the sermon, get ready and drink my coffee
After church we had some time outside in the winter and snow, MT loved it (and as long as I was outside too he didn’t call for me every 5 minute)…. LOL. Love this snowy portrait of him.
This day was my toughest one since November, both emotionally and physically. I think I was at work for over 10 hours this day, MT tagged along for a few of those hours (in the evening). I didn’t get to take any photos – and frankly I don’t want to remember so much about this day anyway. I’ll rather ease it a bit with a nice photo from the winter wonderland of my neighborhood, taken on Jan 21.
This was my day off work. And I got so tired, didn’t do much of anything – at least not much of what was on my orginal list…. But then I got to rest a bit, relax and reload. I took a bunch of photos outside this day, but the one that goes in my 365 this day is one with MT with ski. We went ski-carouselling – and he had so much fun!! He even had to use his skiis to go from the garage and up to the house. A good thing, though, I got to take this photo!!
It was snow everywhere on this day. I had Confirmant Class in the place farthest away and it was a challenge to drive there (it went nice though). I didn’t take any photo this day, but use one taken the day before, Jan 18th, it’s pretty much the same weather…..
I had big plans for this day:
- shoving snow
- clearing and boxing the Christmas decoration (yes, I know, been a while since I started doing this – got to get it finished already)
- making a 2009 calendar for a few family members
(ahem, a really late Christmas gift…) - clean and clear!!
- do some laundry
- run the dishwasher. Hey! I did that; the machine is running right now. Yay.
- make a fabulous and easy dinner (not going to happen
) - be ready to ski with my boy for ski carousel (I’m going to go there with him at least – he’ll be the one skiing, though!)
But I got so slow – almost like I-can’t-move-out-of-the-couch kind of feeling. So I stayed on it with the computer in front of me. Reading, smiling, downloading and getting inspired to scrap. Sadly the sun is soon leaving my backyard, and it would be nice to be outside feeling the sun on my face – but I just needed this hours of rest to come to grip with myself.
I’m still hoping to do some of the things on my list; but surely not all!!
Enjoy life – take time to rest and regroup
The kid next door (more or less) visited us tonight. And we had fun playing in the snow in the evening
I had to join them because of the darkness (it was scary tigers in the forest!) – and ended up with a nearly shoveled drive way and a big smile on my face from spending 1.5 hours OUTside. I loved it; that kind of took me by surprise and I look forward to other nights like this with some of MT’s friends over. It so great to have the snow here, it’s a whole lot – but manageable (at least after a few days of getting it out of the road….)
Anyhow. It’s late. Better find my bed. Good Night!
I’m not loving the blitz at these photos, but I had to shot them quickly because the boy moved fast AND it was snowing on my camera(!) Next time I hope to get more photos of them too!
Since I had youth club in the evening I was at home during the day. I did a couple of laundry washes (about time!!), throw out the Christmas tree, was online, worked on a scrap page and drank some coffee. My dad came to watch MT while I was away. It was a relaxed day but I still was super tired by the time I got home from the youth club at 00:15. I guess I’m not a youngster anymore
lol
When MT got home from kindergarten he pronounced that he was going to be the kind of man that did the outdoors job – and then he took the broom and started working the snow
He cracks me up! But I don’t mind him helping out a bit.
The weekend was (among other things) filled with scrapbooking, I finished several scraps – both for my scrap friend Jess Gordon and her new kit So Flirty (scrap is here) and for Pretty Scrappy where I’m on the CT team (scrap is here). This Monday, after a long day at work, I joined the blog train and released my second freebie (ever!), a 4×6 brag book QP – by now, almost a week later, it’s been downloaded 594 times. I’m speechless and thrilled at the same time; this is so fun!
The photo above is from Saturday. I didn’t take any photo this day and I’ve decided that when such thing happens I’ll use a photo that fits or that I like, rather than getting holes in my 365 project. Photos matter, but it’s just as important that I do this regular posts. At least that’s my view and I’m sticking to it for this year!
